Regional Management Team

Sweet Adelines Regions are managed by a Regional Management Team RMT).  The team consists of 8 positions: the Team Coordinator, Events Coordinator, Finance Coordinator, Membership Coordinator, Marketing Coordinator and Communciations Coordinator are elected to their positions by the regions membership; the Directors' Coordinator is elected by the regions Directors; and the Education Coordinator is appointed by the International Board of Directors.

Janet Davis, Kansas City Chorus

Janet Davis is beginning her 1st term as Team Coordinator (RTC).  Janet joined Sweet Adelines in 1984 in Peoria Illinois.  Upon moving to Kansas City in 1991, she joined the Kansas City Chorus and has served the chorus in the roles of Show Chair, Public Relations Chair, Board Member, and Assistant Lead Section Leader.  Janet sings lead in ALL THAT! quartet.   In 2004 Janet became the Regional Membership and Marketing Coordinator, serving two terms.  She took a year off before rejoining the team in 2009.  Janet holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from Sangamon State University and a MBA from Baker University.  She is a licensed Financial Service Professional at HighPointe Financial Group in Overland Park. Janet and her husband Mark reside in Lenexa, Ks.

 

 

Sandy Smith, Chapter-at-Large

Sandy Smith, Chapter-at-Large member, is returning for a 2nd term as Communications Coordinator (COC).  Sandy has been a Sweet Adeline for 14 years, mostly as member of the Lincolnaire Chorus.  Sandy served the chorus however she could, including several years as Team Coordinator.  She has been married to Dennis for 36 years, has two grown sons and works full-time as a Business Analyst for the University of Nebraska Foundation.  She also serves as President for the Lincoln chapter of the American Society for Training and Development.  Her hobbies, when she has time, include gardening, reading and touring the United States.

 

Kim Kraut, RiverSong and Kansas City

Kim Kraut, director of RiverSong and interim co-director of Kansas City Chorus is starting her first term as Directors’ Coordinator (DC ).  Kim has been a member of Sweet Adelines International since 1977 (she was only 15 years old).  She has been a member of the International Faculty specializing in Vocal Production and is a current member of the Region 7 faculty.  Kim received her formal training at the University of Missouri at Kansas City’s Conservatory of Music.  She graduated with degrees in Music Education and Secondary Biology Education.  She then began a Masters’ Program in Vocal Performance but became so busy singing opera professionally that she hasn’t returned to her Master’s degree program.  Kim sang professionally for twelve years and only recently retired to team.  When she’s not busy singing she teaches and coaches choruses and quartets around the world.

 

 

Pat Mikels, Kansas City Chorus

Pat Mikels, has been married for 42 years andshe and her husband, Ron, have 4 daughters, 4 grandsons and 2 granddaughters.  Pat joined Sweet Adelines as a member of the Kansas City Chorus in the summer of 2004 after seeing 4's Company sing at the Zona Rosa grand opening.  (3 of her sisters joined around the same time!)  She sings lead and has enjoyed being in a couple of rookie quartet contests (singing baritone in one and tenor in another!) for Kansas City and an octet, The Christmas Belles, that has performed during the last 4 Christmas seasons.  Pat currently sings lead in a quartet that hopes to be off and singing soon!  She has served 4 years on the Board of Directors for Kansas City, the last 2 as president and has served on various committees.  She is very excited about the educational possibilities for our region over the next 2 years, not the least of which is the upcoming Battle of the Barbershop Stars in June of 2011.  During the day, Pat is a Sr. Support Assistant for MetLife in their Small Market Operations Center located in Briarcliff.

 

Linda Smith, Kansas City Chorus

Linda Smith, a member of the Kansas City Chorus is returning for the 2nd year as Events Coordinator (EVC).  Linda served six years as Finance Coordinator from 2001 through 2007. She has been a member of the Kansas City Chapter for the past 5 years and is a former member of Northland Chapter for 7 years.  She is former costume chair for the Kansas City Chorus and is the bass in Latte Blend quartet.  Linda is widowed and has grown twin boys.  She is employed at BCD Travel as an ARC specialist.  Linda has quite a few hobbies, such as gardening, needlepoint, quilting, and baking.

 

Rosemary Olas, Show Me Sound Chorus

Rosemary Olas, a member of Show Me Sound Chorus, is beginning her first term as the Finance Coordinator (FC).  Rosemary became hooked on barbershop in 2002 after giving a “brief try”.  She sings tenor in the chorus and with her quartet, Arpeggio Unplugged.  She has served in various capacities on the chorus leadership team and currently serves as team leader.  Rosemary and her husband Alan enjoy classic cars in their spare time.  Their four married children live close by with their four granddaughters and two grandsons.  Three of Rosemary’s granddaughters sang with the chorus in their 2008 show and daughter Liddy is a member of the chorus.  Rosemary’s “day job” is Educational Services and Outreach Manager at KMOS-TV, the PBS station at the University of Central Missouri.

 

Phyllis VanHorn, Chapter-at-Large

Phyllis VanHorn, a Chapter-at-Large member, is beginning her 2nd year as Membership Coordinator (MEC).  Phyllis has been a registered nurse since 1980 and has worked in hospital, home health and as a Red Cross volunteer instructor.  She currently works part time at McPherson Memorial Hospital.  Phyllis married career Airman Cliff and accompanied him wherever Uncle Sam ordered until 1983 when they settled in McPherson, KS.  Phyllis has been a member of the McPherson and Wichita Chapters of Sweet Adelines.  Over the years she has served as Ways and Means Chair, Membership Chair, Corresponding Secretary, Vice-President, President, board member and on the nominating committee.  She has also served as a Region 7 Management Team Associate member, Chapter Coordinator and Membership Coordinator.  Phyllis enjoys traveling, vegetable gardening, sewing for herself and two granddaughters, hiking and visiting her son and his family.

 

Jane Tham, Harmony Central Chorus

Jane Tham, a member of Harmony Central Chorus, is returning for a 2nd term as Marketing Coordinator (MKC).  Jane is a 29 year member of Sweet Adelines International and Harmony Central Chorus in Des Moines, IA, having joined in January 1980.  She sings bass in the chorus and with Special Arrangement Quartet.  She has been a busy, involved chorus member all of those years.  A perennial board member, she served many terms as president and executive committee member.  She has taken a leadership role on nearly every standing and/or special committee.   She is also a perennial member of the show production team, serving many years as the show chair and publicity chair.  She has been the chorus business/performance manager and PR/marketing coordinator for many years.  Jane previously served regionally on the Convention Steering Committee in Region #20 as on-site coordinator, JPC, OPL and emcee.  Jane and husband, Mark, have been married 35 years this May and have two grown daughters, one in Des Moines and one in Phoenix, AZ.  In their ‘spare’ time they like to travel and spend time with their family, especially their granddaughter.
